New research by Oxford Brookes University shows that making one small change to eating low Gi bread can improve your blood sugar control and so help to prevent or manage cardiovascular disease and diabetes. This is also great news if you’re trying to lose weight - and keep it off!
The Glycaemic Index (Gi) is a way of ranking individual foods according to the effect they have on blood sugar levels - that is, how quickly they are digested. Food with a low Gi ranking (below 56) cause a slow, steady rise in blood sugar levels reducing food cravings, making yu feel full for a longer period of time.
Very few breads are low Gi - Most are in the medium range.
